Anyone who is or has been pregnant is familiar with the popular book for new parents-to-be, What to Expect When You’re Expecting. But, we’d like to propose the sequel: What to Expect When You’re Not Expecting to be Expecting. Here would be our suggested chapter outline:
- If you have had three positive pregnancy tests; you’re probably pregnant
- Timing…overrated.
- How to throw your five year plan out the window
- When reality hits: I just heard the heartbeat
- It’s OK to think your first ultrasound images are a cross between adorable and alien
- Spousal encouragement 101: “It’s a baby bump, not pooch”
- What to say when your 4th grade students tell you you’re getting fat
- Birthing 101: Dad, welcome to a whole new world…you have got a lot to learn.
And yes, we are expecting!
Hey, congrats on your ‘great expectations’ shall we say…and I love the blog. What a great name and good content!
I LOVE it!!! No, I love you guys, I {greatly} appreciate your musings and I am {fantastically} thrilled for you guys.
PS. Contrary to popular belief, no one has the ability to ‘plan’ their children’s arrival on earth’s scene. Sometimes, however, God kindly grants them their wish at the precise time they were wishing it. Otherwise, God is full of surprises, and I believe these are some of His favorites…especially when their are loving people He’s bestowing them upon.
I had heard this a couple days ago and I keep meaning to email. I am SO excited for you, even if you were not expecting to be expecting! That’s going to be one VERY lucky kid!!
That was great to read! 🙂 Congrats! Even though you were not expecting to be expecting it will be an amazing adventure for you to enjoy. Cherish every minute as it goes way too fast!
This is hilarious! Congrats to you guys on your news! 🙂
We’d be in big trouble if the planning was really up to us! Congratulations!
Congrats…what a great piece….loved it. I always enjoy reading your posts…
You’ll be the best parents this little one could ask for…..
I’m lagging here but congratulations Chris & Alli! Spent the last few weeks moving to San Diego and taking a new job. Trying to get back to normal. Staying tuned…
